Man, first of all, thank you very much for your reply :)
I will be happy only with the G2 build, because that is actually what I was looking for because of the G2: Returning 2.0 I wanna play.
I installed everything and used the build you sent me link for and it works man! No white screen!! :)
But..
I might done something very stupid. When I was trying all kinds of things and looking for help on internet, I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1kqRDSKORI on youtube and deleted the 'InstalledVersion' and 'Version' files in the RegEdit as he advices from 0:35. Then I couldn't replace them, because the video is outdated and the links don't work. I only have the 'Default' now. And even though the Gothic II (even with all the additional things from the G2: Returning 2.0) starts and works, when I press 'New Game', it freezes and this goes up:
.. which I found out is probably a problem of me removing the files. Now I am finding out, that these files were available only for the DX 9 version and are not available for DX 11 outside the instalation of Windows, is that true? I am lost and fcked up now :-( also some types videos stopped working.

Is there any chance you would know how to deal with this?
Thank you again..

I've been interested in playing Gothic for a while and when I saw that they are currently on sale on Steam I picked up the bundle that includes Gothic I-III.
I decided to start with Gothic I but I'm having trouble getting it running. I can't seem to get a playable resolution--when it launches the game is in fullscreen but with a huge border around it and part of the screen is always cut off no matter what resolution I set it to.
I'm also getting the 'access violation' screen when I try to start a new game.
I've tried a couple of fixes that I was able to find through a Google search, as well as manually adjusting the resolution in the INI file and disabling the Steam overlay, but so far I've had no luck.
Does anyone know how to get this game running?

I can't seem to play Grim Dawn (only game I'm currently playing) in full screen: even though it's in full screen selected inside the game, it's in a window. It's problem because it cuts part of the image: from both bottom as well as right side.
Here's a screenshot with the problem:
as can be seen, it cuts part of the bottom as well as a sizeable chunk from the right size.
Here's a pic taken from the net of this screen,
so that you can see how much is being cut off. Activation code corel draw x7 32-bit.
The workaround is to select the 2nd highest resolution. it works because I can see the whole picture but that's because, even though it's supposed to be in full screen, it's actually on a window. That's not full screen at all.
I have less then 2 months experience using Linux and I chose Ubuntu 16.04. please keep that in mind when posting solutions to this problem because I may not know how to implement them.

this is why the game is in a window:
If play-on-linux allows it. open the wine configuration for the prefix where the game is installed and uncheck
Emulate a virtual desktop
Note: if this is a steam game, Steam has a linux version.

I really thought i had tried this before (ravery's fix), as can be seen in this pic.
Turns out it was the wrong winecfg, which is why it didn't work.
Just tried it via PlayonLinux instead of from the terminal and finally FINALLY i get to play the game in full screen!!!
This problem seems solved!
